My name is Mira and I am the Resident Manager at Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa living and working on the beautiful tropical island of Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand. I grew up near Tübingen, in the south of Germany, where I found my passion for the hospitality industry with a part-time job in a well-known Fine Dining Restaurant.
From there, I travelled and worked in Costa Rica, Panama, Spain and South Africa and in 2010 I began my Management Training Program at the 5-Star Vila Vita Hotel Rosenpark in Marburg, Germany. Educated at the Ravensburg University of Cooperative Education with a Bachelor Degree in Hotel Management, I joined The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai in 2013 where I worked for over three years and led a team of more than 500 employees.
Following my dream and professional ambition of living and working in Southeast Asia, I was thrilled when I had the opportunity to join the Zazen Family. The resort is a beautiful and intimate oasis with its attention to detail and very personal touch. With the team, we will together continually strive to create unique and memorable experiences for our guests.

Hi, my name is Ame. I come from the Pattani province in Thailand. I received my degree in Education Technology from Prince of Songkhla University and then tried a few things before joining Zazen working in domestic distribution for Sahafarm, and then becoming a nun (for a short time).
I love working in the hospitality service because its a pleasure to provide good service and to see people happy. As a Sales I spend lots of time in direct correspondence with you, our guests, with the responsibilities of the reservations department and front office.

My name is Jang and I was born in Koh Samui. After I graduated from Srinakharinwirot University in Bangkok, I returned to my hometown to work in the hospitality industry.
I have joined the team after working as an Events Coordinator for over 5 years. I have extensive experience with a vast variety of events, from weddings to conferences and non-fundraisers. I extremely enjoy assisting each of my clients to make their event successful and memorable.
I am excited to be a part of the Zazen team filled with such driven intelligence, and amazing people where everyone is unique and bring something different to the table.

My Name is Robin, I am 27 years old and I had the opportunity to join the Zazen family In March 2019 as a Food and Beverage Manager. I was born in Annecy, in the French Alps, but spend most of my childhood in Avignon, in the South of France.
My love for this industry started upon completion of my Master in International Hospitality Management in Birmingham, in England. I had to pay for my studies and I had to start working in Hotel du Vin, a well-known hotel chain in U-K created by some of the best sommeliers in the world. I spend 6 years there, moving through the hierarchy from food runner to head sommelier. I had the chance through my time there and then later in Australia to work with great mentors that taught the best way possible of doing things.
It is now a new chapter of my life, and I am delighted to join the Zazen family. I am excited to the idea of sharing my knowledge with others, learn new things from my colleagues, bring warmth, fairness, friendliness and of course wine!

Chef Kul has been a professional chef for more than 25 years and has extensive experience in senior positions is some of the most prestigious resorts and restaurants on Koh Samui, Koh Pha Ngan and Krabi. An expert in regional Thai cuisine and international cuisines, his culinary journey began long before he set foot in a professional kitchen.
“My father was a chef and my passion for Thai cuisine began as a young boy, helping my dad prepare family meals. I was mesmerized by the aromas and flavours he could create from seemingly simple locally produced ingredients and I knew then that this was something I very much wanted to know more about. With my father’s guidance I created and cooked my first family meal at the age of nine and I’ve never stopped learning about or loving food ever since.”
Chef Kul has previously worked at Zazen as the Executive Sous Chef and was thrilled to be invited back when the position of Executive Chef became vacant recently. “I very much enjoyed my time at Zazen before and I particularly love the friendly, family ambience of the team at Zazen and everyone’s desire to excel and be the very best for all of our guests. I have a terrific brigade of chefs in the kitchen and over the coming weeks and months we’ll be creating brand new dishes and menu concepts and we can’t wait to showcase them to all of the wonderful guests who come to Zazen each year.”

My name is Ell. I am from the South of Thailand. I had started to learn hospitality at the young age of 19 and since then have worked in several hotels first in Phuket.
Upon a visit to Koh Samui in 2004, I soon fell in love with the life here and truly felt the attraction of this tropical island. Even after working in Reception and Reservations department for different hotels in Koh Samui over the past ten years, I’m still excited about my job in this industry.
At present, I am in charge of the Sales & Marketing Department at Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa, which brings new experiences everyday as I discover the challenge of working with the Boutique Style hotel. At the same time, there are many chances to have a good time and enjoy the work at Zazen.

Hello! My name is Nok, and I come from Phetchabun in the North of Thailand.
I have always been passionate by the tourism industry, and have decided early that I would study Tourism and Hospitality. I went on and studied in the International School of Tourism Suratthani Rajabhat University.
To complete my knowledge on tourism, I travelled around Thailand for a little while, and ended up in Koh Samui, where I decided to start looking for a job. I began working in small restaurants to gain experience and learn about the job industry hands-on. When I started to work at Zazen, I was the cashier for both the restaurant and the front office, as both outlets were at the same place. This is how I learned my job as a receptionist and decided to follow this path.
Today, I am thrilled to make each and every one of you, our lovely guests, happy to stay at Zazen, and I am proud to be part of your holiday experience.
Hello! My name is Fon and I come from Suratthani. I studied and graduated from Dhurakij Pundit University in Bangkok for hotel management.
I was always attracted by the Spa universe, as I have always loved pampering people around me. This is why it was self-evident that my first job would be spa related. I started to work in a hotel in Phuket as a Spa receptionist and took 2 years to learn and increase my knowledge on Spa and Spa organization and management. Thanks to my hard work and whole-hearted motivation, I got promoted to assistant Spa manager and then promoted again to Spa manager within the same hotel.
This year, I decided to move to Koh Samui to get closer to my hometown and family, and I am happy to be here.
I feel good every time I can help someone find their ideal treatment because I want to make their experience in Le Spa Zen the most special.
I’m a Koh Samui girl, born and raised, and the youngest of nine siblings! I attended the Local University and finished with a degree in Marketing.
After that, I did in-house training at the airport as part of the ground staff for two months.
When I was 26 years old, my fiancé Alexander Andries and I, took over Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa from my father. We gave the resort its name, and continue to invest our energy in constantly improving Zazens service and outlook.
The resort allows me to express myself artistically. When I met Alex, I was running a small boutique in my fathers house in Bophut village, selling pieces of art, decoration and Buddhist artifacts which I discovered from the northern part of Thailand, Bali and Burma. The boutique at Zazen is an extension of this hobby.
Zazen is very much part of who I am. This used to be my playground! I saw my parents, brothers and sisters taking care of the first tourists and backpackers, and I wanted to do the same. I gave my heart to Zazen and am still very active in the resort.
Im now the owner and executive director in charge of the whole organization of the hotel, and am proud to have designed the room interiors as well as the gardens at Zazen. Im responsible for those small beloved details that make Zazen what it is today.

I was born in Brussels, but was conceived in Kinshasa, Congo, Africa, where my parents lived for 4 years! My mum, Jane White, is from England. She traveled a lot in the US and met my father, Christian Andries, in Brussels. He is Belgian and at that time had just come back from a two year trip to Australia. Together, they lived in Africa before returning back to Brussels. Because of all the traveling and mixed nationalities of my parents, our house was always full of friends from all around. I remember that this was a feeling that I really loved – having the chance to meet all these people. I guess that this was the time when I had the first privilege of welcoming people – the beginning of feelings that would lead me to the hospitality industry. I apparently told my parents that when I was older, I would also travel.
After finishing high school in Belgium, I went to Tyler, Texas with the Rotary Club to do another senior year and to discover America, its culture and people. I then went back to Brussels, studied Tourism & Hotel Management at the Institut Arthur Haulot and did an internship in at the Hillsboro airport next to Portland, Oregon, USA.
I graduated in September 97 and left for Thailand in October 97 as a Representative for the Belgian Tour Operator BEST tours. After spending 6 months in Bangkok, I got the chance to reopen the destination of Koh Samui for BEST tours. I used to welcome guests at the airport, visit them in 12 different hotels all around the island and made sure that they all enjoyed a nice holiday. After 2 months, I met Ti, who had a small boutique in Bophut village. We fell in love. I convinced Tis father to trust me, and we got engaged. From that moment on, I knew I wasnt going to go back to live in Belgium. Two years later her father suggested we take over the family guest house and since then Ti and I have put all our energy and love into Zazen, welcoming guests on holiday to discover the beautiful island of Koh Samui and the friendliness of its inhabitants.
